I sat in a two hour long movie and just couldn't get comfortable. My tailbone hurt so bad. Is that normal? What can be done about it?

I have yet to have my surgery, but I have read about this on here before about tailbone pain. I am sooo not looking forward to that! I have lower back  and hip pain now because of degenerative disc disease and arthritis..yeah I couldn't inherit money...lol If you find something that helps let us know, so I will have ideas!

Does it get better? Why does it happen?

I'm almost 11 months out and I've been having this problem since about my 6th or 7th month out. It's usually worst when I work overtime, I use a cushion here at work and try to get up as often as I can. I think it's because we've lost our extra cushion, I hear it gets better I just don't know when

I only feel this when I'm at work, the chairs there were not very comfortable to begin with so I sit on a little pillow.

You are not alone!  I'm two years out and my tailbone still hurts so much.  I'm going to have to buy one of those "donut" pillows or a ****yx pillow that has the opening for the tailbone.  Lady Lithia who posts here had it so bad that she had surgery for it.  I hope she sees this post and can give you advice or explain why it happens.  I read an explanation for it but don't remember the details.  I isn't just the loss of fat back there.  It has something to do with the muscles supporting the tailbone, I think.  My tailbone pain even affects my spending time with my hubby!  My hubby is disabled and if he's having a bad day with his back, he has to lie down in bed, so if I want to spend time with him, I would have to sit propped up in bed with one of those back pillows, but that puts SO much pressure on my tailbone - it's excruciating!  So I feel bad.... I'm sitting in the living room in my recliner and hubby is in the bedroom.

Im having the same problem,I think its because we have less padding on our butts now and I guess we have to adjust to this. Im down 70Lbs and I see you have lost even more,by the way keep up the good work...I now use a pillow at times ...

I have it too.  I just use a small pillow, but seriously thinking about getting one of those wedge pillows for tailbone pain.
